Legends Winter Bash to Benefit LLS; Manager Buchanan to Attend; Signed Brett Jersey in Silent Auctio

The Lexington Legends are inviting fans to the Kentucky Ale Taproom at Whitaker Bank Ballpark Saturday night, January 19, 2013, for the Legends' third annual Winter Bash, an evening of fun that will support the Kentucky and Southern Indiana chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Legends manager Brian Buchanan will be a special guest for the event, which begins at 7 p.m. and continues until midnight. Buchanan, a former major league player now in his third year as a manager in the Kansas City Royals' organization, will meet with fans and will be available for photos and autographs. The Legends will play their first season as a Royals affiliate in 2013.
A silent auction will include a George Brett jersey signed by the baseball Hall of Famer, who is now vice president of baseball operations for the Royals. A baseball signed by Brett also will be in the auction, as will jerseys, bats and batting helmets signed by current Royals Billy Butler, Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas, and a baseball and bat signed by the Royals' Alex Gordon.
Television screens throughout the Kentucky Ale Taproom will allow guests to follow Kentucky's basketball game at Auburn. The game begins at 9:00.
Tickets are $50 per person. Heavy hors d'oeuvres will be available, and an open bar, sponsored by Kentucky Ale, will feature a variety of beers and wine.
"The Legends are excited about our third annual Winter Bash, and we're pleased to have LLS as the beneficiary," said Sarah Bosso, the Legends' director of community relations and special events. "This event is a great way to kick off the New Year at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The support from our new affiliate, the Kansas City Royals, for Winter Bash has been tremendous and will make this year's event and silent auction better than ever. We're also very excited that the new Legends manager, Brian Buchanan, will attend. January 19th can't get here fast enough."
"The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is extremely excited to be the charity chosen by the Lexington Legends for the 2013 Winter Bash," said Meredith Jenkins, Campaign Manager for the Kentucky and Southern Indiana chapter of LLS. "The proceeds from the ticket sales and silent auction items that are donated to LLS further our mission of funding blood cancer research and providing support to patients and their families."
