Lexington Legends News Release

(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) Mark Donato's three-run homer capped a four-run rally in the sixth inning as the Lexington Legends came from behind for a 6-3 win over Augusta Tuesday night. With the win, the Legends trail Augusta by a game and a half in the South Atlantic League Southern Division standings.

The GreenJackets built a 3-1 lead through five innings. They scored two runs in the top of the second on a single by Chuckie Jones, a two-out run-scoring double by Andrew Cain and an RBI single by Rando Moreno.

The Legends scored a run in the bottom of the second. Cam Gallagher led off with a double and Donato drew a walk. Fred Ford flied out, and Ramon Torres grounded into a force play at second as Gallagher moved to third. Terrance Gore singled, scoring Gallagher to cut the lead to 2-1.

Andrew Cain's leadoff homer in the fifth gave the GreenJackets a 3-1 lead, but the Legends answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth. Donato led off with a single, and Ford walked. Torres' sacrifice bunt moved the runners up, and Donato scored on a ground out by Gore.

In the seventh, Mark Threlkeld led off with a double against reliever Jorge Bucardo. Threlkeld moved to third as Bubba Starling grounded out, and scored the tying run on Hunter Dozier's double to left field. After Gallagher walked, Donato launched a 420-foot shot over the party deck in right field to give the Legends their final 6-3 margin.

Kevin Allen (3-1), who pitched the seventh and eighth innings after relieving starter Daniel Stumpf, got the win. Bucardo (2-1), who entered the game at the start of the seventh inning, was tagged for all four seventh-inning runs and took the loss.

The Legends and GreenJackets will resume their series Wednesday. Game time is 12:05 p.m.
