Legends Take on First-Place Augusta as Homestand Opens Tuesday

(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) The top two teams in the South Atlantic League Southern Division will open a three-game series Tuesday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

The Lexington Legends, who are two and one-half games behind the first-place Augusta GreenJackets, will have a chance to close that gap when they take on the GreenJackets Tuesday night, Wednesday afternoon and Thursday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark..

The Legends will remain at home for games against Greenville Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The six-game home stand includes variety of discounts, promotions and a special night for Project Purple, a program designed to fight addiction. In addition, the Legends will participate in a Pajama Program night, on which fans can receive a discount on tickets in exchange for a donation of pajamas or books.

The schedule:

Tuesday, August 20: Legends vs. Augusta, 7:05 p.m. Tuesday night is 36-cent hot dog night. The price recognizes the Ford F-150, which has been the number one selling truck for 36 consecutive years.

Wednesday, August 21: Legends vs. Augusta, 12:05 p.m. The Legends and GreenJackets will continue their series with a business day game Wednesday.

Thursday, August 22: Legends vs. Augusta, 7:05 p.m. Every Thursday home game is a Thirsty Thursday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark, presented by Kentucky Ale. Fans can enjoy beer and Pepsi products for one dollar each.

Friday, August 23: Legends vs. Greenville, 7:05 p.m. The Legends and their major league affiliate, the Kansas City Royals, are teaming up for Project Purple night. Project Purple is an initiative of The Herren Project, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation established by former NBA basketball player Chris Herren. Project Purple assists individuals and families struggling with addiction. It was established to break the stigma of addiction, increase awareness of the dangers of substance abuse and shed light on effective treatment practices.

Legends' players will wear purple caps with the Royals "KC" logo during the August 23 game. A silent auction for the caps will be conducted during the game. The winning bidders will go on the field after the game to receive their cap, which will be autographed by the Legends player who wore that cap during the game. All proceeds from the auction will directly benefit the Herron Project/Project Purple.

Fans are encouraged to wear purple to the game, and those who do may buy a box seat ticket for the special price of seven dollars.

The Pajama Program offers another opportunity for discounts on tickets Friday. Fans who donate a pair of new pajamas or a new book for children will get a two-dollar discount on a box seat ticket.

Saturday, August 24: Legends vs. Greenville, 7:05 p.m. A Ford Fireworks show will take place after the game, and the Legends will also welcome Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for an overnight campout at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

Sunday, August 25: Legends vs. Greenville, 1:35 p.m. Every Sunday home game is a JIF Kids Club Sunday. Kids Club members receive special benefits such as t-shirts, discounts at the Legends Clubhouse store and many more. More information is available at lexingtonlegends.com.
