Legends get by Braves 2-1

Ofreidy Gomez allowed one run in six and two-thirds innings, and Manny Olloque drove in a tie-breaking run in the seventh inning as the Lexington Legends got past the Rome Braves 2-1 Wednesday night in Rome.

The game was scoreless until the Legends broke through in the top of the sixth inning. With one out, Marten Gasparini walked. He moved to second base on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Vance Vizcaino.

Rome answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth when Drew Lugbauer drew a two-out walk and came around to score on a double by Lucas Herbert.

The Legends scored the decisive run in the seventh. Emmanuel Rivera led off with a single, and Gabriel Cancel reached first safely when first baseman Anthony Concepcion was unable to handle a throw from second base. Olloque, who had two of Lexington's five hits, singled, scoring Rivera from second with the go-ahead run.

Gomez (7-11), who allowed four hits, got the win. He struck out six batters and walked one. Matt Wynne, who relieved Gomez in the seventh, finished the game and picked up his second save.

Jon Kennedy (5-2), who relieved starter Tucker Davidson with two outs in the sixth inning, was the losing pitcher.

Each team has won one game in the series, which concludes Thursday. Game time is 7 p.m. Attendance 1,081
