Lee Ties Franchise-Record Hit-Streak in 3-1 Loss

July 9, 2012 - Southern League (SL1)
Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Hak-Ju Lee tied a franchise record with his 20th-consecutive game with a hit, but the Biscuits (47-40/11-8) stranded 14 runners while dropping the series-finale 3-1 to the Jackson Generals (53-36/11-8) Monday night at Riverwalk.

Lee used a bunt single push toward the second-baseman in his first at-bat of the game to tie the Biscuits' record with a 20-game hit-streak. Lee ties Rico Washington who accomplished the feat in 2005.

With the tying run on second in the ninth, Kyeong Kang faced off with Carter Kapps (15) with two outs and the bases loaded in a 3-1 game, but he sent a weak ground ball to first to end the game. The fourteen stranded runners matched a season-high for the Biscuits.

Matt Buschmann (3-4) suffered the loss despite going seven strong innings for the second-consecutive start. The sinker-baller allowed two runs on five hits with five strikeouts. The only earned run came by way of a solo home run from Ralph Henriquez in the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie.

The Biscuits will open up a three-game series with the Jacksonville Suns on Wednesday at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. RHP Nick Barnese will start for Montgomery while Jacksonville has yet to announce their starter. First pitch is slated for 6:05.
