Laurent Ciman Nominated for a 2016 ESPY

MONTREAL - Montreal Impact defender Laurent Ciman has been nominated for a 2016 ESPY Award in the Best MLS Player category. The award ceremony will take place on July 13 in Los Angeles, California.

Ciman has been nominated alongside forward Sebastian Giovinco (Toronto FC), forward Kei Kamara (then-Columbus Crew SC) and goalkeeper Luis Robles (New York Red Bulls).

MLS Defender of the Year, MLS Best XI selection and Impact Defensive Player of the Year in 2015, Ciman also played in the 2015 MLS All-Star Game, wearing the captain's armband for the second half against English club Tottenham Hotspur F.C. In his second season in MLS, in 2016, he has started 12 games for the Impact.

In his first season in the league, the Belgian international tallied two goals and two assists, finishing second on the team with 2,405 minutes and third with 27 starts. He also started all three games for the Impact in the MLS Cup Playoffs, registering one assist in 300 minutes.

The winner will be chosen by a public vote at http://espn.go.com/espys/2016/?voting=bestmlsplayer. Voting ends on July 13.

Former Impact striker Marco Di Vaio was nominated for a 2014 ESPY Award in the Best MLS Player category.

The ESPYS is an annual event presented in collaboration with ESPN and broadcast on ABC.
