Akron RubberDucks News Release

ERIE, PA - The Aeros couldn't even manage a hit until the top of the 6th inning, but still managed to pull out a 3-1 win over Erie before 6,952 fans at Jerry Uht Park Monday night. Akron improved to 78-49, while the SeaWolves fell to 66-60.

Erie got their lone run in the first inning, as Danny Worth drew a leadoff walk and came around to score on a two out infield single.

All was quiet for the next several innings, as even Josh Rodriguez's lone hit for the Aeros was promptly erased on a double play. Jose Constanza finally woke the Aeros offense in the 8th with a two out double. Constanza advanced to third on a wild pitch, and was joined on the basepaths by Carlos Santana after he drew a walk. Beau Mills then followed and brought everyone home with his 13th homer of the year, nailing a nasty two strike curveball over that just bounced over the right field wall.

Steven Wright got the win in relief of Akron starter Eric Berger, running his record to a sterling 10-0 with two perfect innings of relief which included three strikeouts. Josh Judy closed things out for his 8th save of the year, but it didn't come without some drama. Judy struck out the first batter he faced in the 8th, but then put the tying runs on with a single and a walk. Showing he can get out of a jam with style, Judy closed out the inning with two strikeouts and then struck out the side in the 9th to seal the deal. The final seven outs for Akron pitching all came by way of the K.
