ALBANY, NY - For only the third time this month the Albany Devils failed to register a point, losing to the Binghamton Senators, 3-2, Friday at Times Union Center in front of 5,311 fans. Bobby Butler registered a pair of goals, giving him 10 goals in the last 11 games.
Butler scored twice on the power play and Eric Gelinas registered a pair of assists. Also finding their way on the scoresheet were Jacob Josefson, Scott Parse and Steve Zalewski with assists. In goal, Jeff Frazee made 14 saves on 17 shots.
For Binghamton, Cole Schneider scored twice and Jakob Silfverberg registered the game-winning goal. Robin Lehner had 35 saves on 37 tries, improving to 11-4-1-1.
The Devils opened the scoring at 10:09 of the first period on a 5-on-3 power play. Gelinas fed a cross-ice pass to Butler on the doorstep for the one-time finish.
Albany was one second from taking its lead into the third, but Schneider jumped on a rebound from an Eric Gryba shot from the point as time expired. Schneider's second of the night came at 1:21 of the third as he redirected a pass from Mark Stone from close range.
Butler brought the Devils even with his second power-play goal and his team-leading 13th tally of the season. Parse jumped on a fortunate bounce off the glass from in the Binghamton zone and he found Butler for the easy tap into an empty net.
The game winner came at 17:25 when Mike Hoffman sent a shot on goal and the rebound fell right to Silfverberg, whose shot managed to sneak passed Frazee.
The Devils, who outshot the Senators, 37-17, went 2-for-6 on the power play, while the Senators went 0-for-2.
