North Carolina FC News Release

MIAMI - A stoppage-time game winner from Christian Ibeagha led North Carolina FC to a dramatic 3-2 victory over NASL Spring Season Champions Miami FC on Saturday night.

With the latest win, the club has not lost to the NASL leaders yet this season and has won its last two matches against Miami.

North Carolina struck first in the contest, as Jonathan Glenn scored his first goal for the club in the 27th minute. Steven Miller started the play, as the defender won the ball on the right flank. Miller then fed Glenn who finished from close range.

North Carolina's 1-0 lead held through the first half with help from Brian Sylvestre. The goalkeeper saved both of Miami FC's attempts on goal, including a dangerous free kick from Ariel Martinez in the 43rd minute.

Following halftime, NCFC went to its bench. Head Coach Colin Clarke brought on Matt Fondy in the 62nd minute and Marcel Kandziora in the 65th.

The substitutions paid off, as Kandziora doubled NCFC's lead in the 72nd minute on his first touch of the match. The German took advantage of his chance and buried a strike from 22 yards out for the first NCFC goal of his career. Miller picked up his second assist of the night on the play.

Despite the lead, the score line wouldn't hold. Michel converted a penalty kick for Miami FC in the 88th minute and Stefano Pinho tied the match in the 92nd.

NCFC responded almost immediately with a late goal of its own to win the match. Tiyi Shipalane appeared as a substitute in the 91st minute and provided the game-winning assist in the 93rd . Shiplane whipped a free kick into the box, which found the head of Ibeagha. The center back's header hit the back of the net to ensure a massive victory for NCFC.
