Montgomery, Ala. - Cody Cipriano led off the ninth inning with a triple and scored on a throwing error to give the Montgomery Biscuits (16-10) a 2-1 victory over the Jacksonville Suns (16-10) in front of 7,123 Wednesday at Riverwalk Stadium.

Biscuits reliever Paul Phillips (2-1) picked up the winning decision, dealing one scoreless inning. Suns reliever Matt Peterson (2-1) fell in the loss, giving up the unearned run in the ninth inning.

Jacksonville opened the scoring in the second inning against Montgomery starter Jake McGee. Tim Torres led off with a double, and following a Ryan Curry sacrifice bunt, scored on a sacrifice fly by Javier Guzman for a 1-0 lead.

The Biscuits tied the game in the third inning against Suns starter Tom Koehler. John Matulia doubled with one out and later scored on a two-out double from Chris de la Cruz for a 1-1 score.

Montgomery scored the winning run in the ninth inning against Peterson. Cody Cipriano led off with a triple, followed by a Greg Sexton walk. Peterson then bluffed to third and threw to first on a pickoff move, but the throw went wild allowing Cipriano to score, ending the game 2-1.

The Suns offense struggled for the second consecutive day, going 0-12 with runners in scoring position while leaving 11 runners on base. Ozzie Martinez extended his hitting streak to five consecutive games, all of them with two or more hits.
