Las Vegas Earns First Three-Game Winning Streak of the Year

Victoria, BC - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (21-18-4, 46 points) defeated the Victoria Salmon Kings (29-13-4, 62 points) 4-2 at the Save On Foods Memorial Centre on Wednesday night. Goalie Glenn Fisher stopped 34 Victoria shots to lead the Wranglers to the team's third straight victory. For the first time this season, the Wranglers are three games over .500 and have won three games in a row. Centers Tyler Mosienko and Justin Taylor each had a goal and an assist as Las Vegas improved to 7-10-2 on the road this year. Winger Mick Lawrence dished out two assists as the Wranglers snagged their fifth win in the last six games. Center Chris Ferraro and defenseman Dan Spang also scored in the victory. Las Vegas will remain in Victoria for three more games, starting this Friday at 7:05 PM

Las Vegas jumped out to a 2-0 lead after a stellar first period of play. The Wranglers sustained constant pressure in the Victoria zone, outshooting the Salmon Kings 19-8 in the opening period. Center Justin Taylor started the scoring by redirecting a Mick Lawrence shot from the point. Taylor's tenth of the season was scored at 7:44 and gave the Wranglers a 1-0 lead. Las Vegas expanded the lead to 2-0 at 14:22 with a power-play goal. Defenseman Chris St. Croix sent the puck along the blue-line to Dan Spang, who walked into the high-slot and ripped a slap shot past Todd Ford for his first goal of the season.

In the second period, Victoria charged back to pull within a goal before the period expired. Center Tyler Mosienko scored his 11th goal of the season at 8:04, expanding the Las Vegas lead to 3-0. Mosienko scored off a rebound of a Justin Taylor shot, scoring his 51st career goal with the Wranglers. Victoria charged back with a pair of answered goals before the period ended. Captain Wes Goldie scored his 37th goal of the season at 9:47 to bring Victoria with a goal at 3-1. The Salmon Kings capitalized on a Wranglers turnover with goalie Glenn Fisher out of position, the Salmon Kings played the puck to the Las Vegas net. Center Chris St. Jacques tallied his 11th of the season at 13:57 to make it a 3-2 Las Vegas lead.

In the third period, Las Vegas center Chris Ferraro scored an empty-net goal with 47-seconds remaining for the 4-2 final.

The Wranglers will be in Victoria for three more games. Las Vegas will also play on Friday and Saturday in Victoria at 7:05 PM. The team's will conclude a four-game series with a 5:05 PM faceoff on Sunday. The Wranglers return home on Tuesday, February 10th, to host Ontario at 7:30 PM.
