Dayton Dragons News Release

Lansing, Mich.-Four Lansing pitchers combined to allow just three hits as the Lugnuts defeated the Dayton Dragons 3-1 on Wednesday night in the rubber match of a three-game series. The Dragons fell to 6-13 with the loss as Lansing improved to 6-10.

Lansing broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the sixth inning. Dalton Pompey's RBI double gave Lansing a 2-1 lead, and Pompey scored later in the inning on a ground ball double play to make it 3-1. The Dragons did not collect a hit over the final three innings.

Dayton scored in the first inning for the fourth straight game. With one out, Zach Vincej reached on an error and Jeff Gelalich walked. The two runners pulled off a double steal, and Vincej scored from third on Jesse Winker's ground out to make it 1-0. Lansing tied the game with one run in the second.

Dayton finished with just three hits. They included an infield single by Joe Hudson, a bunt single by Vincej, and a line drive through the middle by Seth Mejias-Brean. The Dragons best chance to score after the first inning came in the third when Lansing pitcher Taylor Cole issued three walks to load the bases with two outs, but he got Winker to pop foul to the catcher to end the threat.

Dragons starting pitcher Drew Cisco (1-1) pitched well for the fourth straight time to the mound but suffered the loss. He worked seven innings and allowed three runs on five hits with no walks and five strikeouts. Cisco has worked 26 innings this season and allowed only one walk while striking out 27. Tony Amezcua replaced Cisco and tossed one inning, allowing two hits and no runs with no walks and one strikeout.

The Dragons return home to open a three-game series with the Peoria Chiefs on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. at Fifth Third Field. Sal Romano (1-2, 1.69) will start for the Dragons against Peoria's Joe Cuda (1-0, 2.57). The game will be televised on WHIO Digital Channel 7.2 (Time Warner Cable channels 23 and 372).
