Rochester Lancers News Release

(Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Lancers (2-2) will return to action this Saturday, December 1 when they host the Missouri Comets (4-1) on the Christopher J. Wilmot Field at the Blue Cross Arena beginning at 7:00 p.m. The club will then travel to Syracuse to face the Silver Knights (1-5) on Sunday, December 2 at 4:00 p.m. at the OnCenter. The pair of matches will be the first action for Rochester in ten days after defeating the Chicago Soul at home back on November 21.

Missouri comes to Rochester in second place in the MISL standings with a 4-1 record and are unbeaten on the road. The Comets were undefeated until last weekend when they ran up against another club who has yet to lose, the Baltimore Blast. Byron Alvarez ranks third among all scorers with 22 points. Rochester meanwhile sits in third place with a 2-2 record and led offensively by Doug Miller (17 points), Mauricio Salles (16 points) and Jeremy Ortiz (12 points). A win on Saturday would pull the Lancers to within a half game of second place Missouri.

Following the game on Saturday, the Lancers will head to Syracuse for a late afternoon clash at the OnCenter with the Silver Knights. Syracuse leads the season series after earning a 16-10 win on opening night. Syracuse will be looking to showoff newly acquired Jamar Beasley and Bryan Perez who were acquired from Wichita in exchange for Andre Berenzen and Matt Clare on Wednesday. Beasley earned MISL Most Valuable Player honors during the 2006-07 season while a member of the Detroit Ignition. He is also the older brother of U.S. National Team star DeMarcus Beasley.

Rochester Lancers Doug Miller and Brayton Knapp were each selected to the MISL Team of the Week this week for their performances against the Chicago Soul last weekend. Miller tallied two goals and chipped in an assist while Knapp scored two goals including a three-point blast in the contest.
