Lancers Sweep Phantoms to Take 30th Win

Youngstown, OH - Game two of the series between the Lancers and Phantoms took place Saturday night. Omaha had a statement win, 8-1, with 8 different players scoring in the win over the Youngstown on Thursday. The Lancers came into Saturday night with a 29-11-2-1 record with 61 points and still at first place in the USHL. Zach Driscoll received the call to play between the pipes on Saturday. The Bemidji State goaltender is ranked second in the USHL with a 1.76 GAA and a .939 SV%. Filip Suchy also returned to the lineup after taking a hard hit on Thursday. Suchy was taken out after the hit at the midway point of the second period and did not return. Suchy is the second leading goalscorer in the USHL with 48 points.
It was the Phantoms who struck first in the opening frame. John Larkin was called on the goal to beat Zach Driscoll. Nearing the end of the period, Jesper Peltonen got his first goal of the year to tie the game 1-1.
Jack Randl notched the only goal in the second period. Jack broke past the defense to score on a breakaway to give Omaha the 2-1 lead into the second intermission.
In the third period, Mathieu De St Phalle scored off of a shot from Cam Reagan. Later in the period on the power play, Filip Suchy scored to get his 50th point on the season. The Lancers held on to win 4-1 to sweep the Phantoms.
Zach Driscoll stopped 13 of the 14 shots he faced.
The Lancers improve to 30-11-2-0 with 63 points and sit at first place in the USHL.
