Omaha Lancers News Release

Ralston, NE - The United States Hockey League and NHL Central Scouting announced Omaha Lancers' William Fallstrom, John Wojciechowski, and Zackarias Skog, along with 37 other players league-wide will compete in the 2016 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game that will take place at Ralston Arena on January 12th.

"On behalf of our entire organization, we congratulate John, William, and Zack on being selected to the 2016 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game," said Bryan Marshall, President of the Omaha Lancers. "We're very proud and excited for them, and know they will represent the Lancers well."

Every player chosen was part of a selection process in cooperation with NHL general managers and scouts, NHL Central Scouting, and USHL general managers. All 40 players named to the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game are eligible for the 2016 NHL Draft.

"After a record-breaking NHL Draft in 2015 in which no junior league in the world had more draft picks than the USHL, this should be a momentous year for the league and the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game," said Bob Fallen, USHL President and Commissioner. "By being selected for the event, these players have already captured the attention of NHL scouts, and the game provides them another opportunity to be evaluated among the best talent in their age group."

Wojciechowski, Skog, and Fallstrom are all first-year players with the Omaha Lancers. In 16 games played with the Lancers, Wojciechowski, a native of Larchmont, NY has three points and was included on the NHL Central Scouting Preliminary List. The Swedish-born goaltender, Skog, has appeared in net for 13 games, maintaining a 2.28 goals-against average and a 0.924 save percentage. Most recently, Skog stopped 31 of 32 shots he faced in Cedar Rapids for a 4-1 victory and sixth win of the year. Also a native a Sweden, William Fallstrom has six points on the year and recorded his first USHL goal against the Dubuque Fighting Saints on December 4th. He remains on the NHL Central Scouting List.

"The USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game provides a unique opportunity for the management and scouts of the 30 NHL teams to view the top USHL talent available for the 2016 NHL Draft. The prospects are encouraged to showcase their skills and abilities amongst their peers in this competitive and entertaining environment that brings out their best," said Dan Marr, Director of NHL Central Scouting.

This year marks the fourth USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, and it follows a record-setting 2015 NHL Draft that saw 37 players from the 2014-15 season selected by NHL teams.

The 2016 NHL Draft will be held June 24-25 in Buffalo, NY at the First Niagara Center, home of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres.

The three-game road swing for the Omaha Lancers ends Friday in Des Moines at 7:05 p.m. The next home game at Ralston Arena is this Saturday, December 19th against the Tri-City Storm at 7:05 p.m. Come meet Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and Elves!
