Lancers' Comeback Falls Just Short
(Independence, MI) - MISL leading scorer Doug Miller led a furious Rochester Lancers (7-13) comeback that ended just one point short in a 12-11 loss to the Missouri Comets (10-10). Miller led the Lancers offensively with two fourth quarter goals. Mauricio Salles added a 3-point goal while Elliot Fauske and Alan McGreal each had a 2-point goal for the Lancers.
Missouri would own the first half with Leo Gibson and Lucas Rodriguez scoring to give the home side a 4-0 lead at the half.
The game would open up in the third quarter. Fauske would open the scoring for the Lancers in the game with a pretty goal less than three minutes into the second half. Salles and McGreal would score to make it 10-7 Comets heading into the final quarter.
Miller converted a penalty kick with less than five minutes left to the give the Lancers their first lead of the game. But, Leo Gibson would score just thirty seconds later to give the Comets a 12-11 win.
With five goals by the Lancers this evening Dunkin Donuts will donate five pounds of coffee to Foodlink. So far this season Dunkin Donuts has donated 117 pounds of coffee.
The Lancers will return to action on Friday, February 2nd when they visit the Wichita Wings at 8:35 pm at Hartman Arena. The Lancers will return home to Christopher J. Wilmot Field at the Blue Cross Arena on Saturday, February 16th when they host the Syracuse Silver Knights at 1 pm.
