Lancers Alger Plays Way Onto SportsCenter
September 24, 2016 - United States Hockey League (USHL) - Omaha Lancers News Release
Ralston, NE - Despite the opening night loss to Fargo on Friday Lancer forward Austin Alger played his way onto ESPN's SportsCenter. The forwards' first goal of the night, and the opening tally of the 2016-2017 season, made the networks "Top Ten" coming in at number five.
In the first period Alger corralled a loose puck in front of the net with his back turned to the cage. The Miami University commit regained control of the puck between his legs, sending a shot into the top corner of the net.
"I was just trying to make a play on the puck and get it towards the net," said Alger. "To see myself on SportsCenter though is pretty cool. I would've rather gotten the win with my team, but it's cool to say I've been on SportsCenter."
The Lancers are back in action Saturday night as they travel to Sioux City to take on the Musketeers. Puck drop is set for 7:05 pm.
If you would like to talk to Austin today or this week feel free to give me a call at (765) 610-7777 and I am happy to arrange that. Thanks for your coverage!
