Lancaster JetHawks News Release

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The JetHawks scored six runs in the fifth inning to come back and take the series finale form the Inland Empire 66ers, 8-4, on Monday at San Manuel Stadium.

The win pushed Lancaster (46-42) to 12-7 in the second half and gave them a two game lead in the standings heading into an off day on Tuesday. The win also gave the club a series victory and its ninth win in its last 10 contests against Inland Empire (31-58).

The JetHawks entered the fifth inning down 2-0 but pounced on 66ers starter Justin Anderson (4-8) for six runs on six hits. With two on and one out, Bobby Boyd flared a single to right field. The ball skipped by Ayendy Perez, allowing both runners to score to tie the game.

Johnny Sewald and Ramon Laureano followed with RBI-extra-base hits, and Trent Woodward capped the scoring with a two-run home run, his second of the season with Lancaster.

The lead proved to be plenty for starter Brock Dykxhoorn and a trio of JetHawks relievers. Dykxhoorn (6-3) ran into some trouble in the sixth inning after allowing a two-run home run to Hutton Moyer. He left the game with two outs in the sixth and two on, but Gonzalo Sanudo entered and struck out Zach Welz to strand the runners.

Dykxhoorn allowed four runs on six hits over his 5.2 innings. He struck out four and walked three.

Sanudo ended up throwing 1.1 scoreless innings of relief and was followed by scoreless frames from Kevin Comer and Ryan Deemes to end the game.

The JetHawks begin a four-game, three-day series at The Hangar against the San Jose Giants on Wednesday. Josh James (7-2) will start the opener against Jason Forjet (8-6). First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
