Lancaster JetHawks News Release

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Rogelio Armenteros shut down the Inland Empire 66ers over six innings and carried the JetHawks to a 4-0 win in the series opener on Friday night at San Manuel Stadium.

Armenteros (5-2) allowed only two hits over his six frames and fanned eight, one shy of his season-high. He issued three walks.

The shutout was Lancaster's third of the season and the first for Inland Empire despite ranking at the bottom of most of the California League's offensive rankings. The JetHawks have now won seven in a row against the 66ers.

The JetHawks (44-41) got on the board early against starter Jared Ruxer (0-1) who was making his 66ers debut. Bobby Boyd started the first inning with a four pitch walk and, after stealing second base and third base, scored on a Trent Woodward double. Woodward added another double in his first game since coming off the 7-Day Disabled List.

Jamie Ritchie started the fifth inning with a double and eventually scored on an Antonio Nunez sacrifice-fly to put Lancaster ahead, 2-0.

Ruxer lasted five innings, allowing two runs on four hits. He struck out six and walked three.

Lancaster native and Eastside High School product Winston Lavendier followed Ruxer with three hitless innings out of the bullpen to keep the 66ers in the game.

Inland Empire rallied to load the bases against reliever Kevin Comer in the eighth inning, but Jacob Dorris was summoned from the bullpen and induced an inning-ending double play on his first pitch to cleanup hitter Wade Wass.

Brooks Marlow doubled the JetHawks lead with a two-run home run in the ninth inning, his third home run of the season.

Drew Ferguson, who scored on Marlow's home run, had reached base on a one-out walk. Ferguson walked in all four of his plate appearances marking a new JetHawks season-high for walks in a game.

Dorris tossed a scoreless ninth inning to notch his team-best fifth save of the season.

The JetHawks take on the 66ers in the second game of the four-game series on Saturday night at San Manuel Stadium. Dean Deetz (4-4) will start against Jake Jewell (1-7). First pitch is 7:05 p.m.
