LA KISS Look to Steal a Victory from the Steel

May 6, 2016 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Los Angeles KISS News Release

After a tough loss last Monday, the LA KISS (2-3) look to get back to .500 against their conference foe, the Portland Steel.

2016 is only the third season for both the LA KISS and the Steel (formerly know as the Thunder), as both franchises were 2014 expansion teams. Over the first two seasons they have faced off on six different occasions, with each team winning three contests. In the initial meeting, Week 3 of 2014, the LA KISS bested the Thunder by a score of 44 to 34 in the LA KISS' inaugural home game at the Honda Center. The last time these organizations met in Week 11 of the 2015 season, Donovan "Captain" Morgan dominated Portland's defense, recording seven receptions for 98 yards and three touchdowns in the LA KISS' 52 to 40 rout of the Thunder.

After a subpar 0-3 start to the 2016 campaign, where they got outscored by almost 100 points, the Steel made a change at quarterback. Last week, they gave Kasey Peters his first career start against the undefeated Arizona Rattlers. Unsurprisingly, it did not go well for the Steel as they were clobbered by 47 points. Watch for the experienced backfield of the LA KISS to take advantage and capitalize on the mistakes of the Steel's young quarterback.
