LA Galaxy to host annual Alumni Night on August 17

CARSON, Calif. - The LA Galaxy will host the club's annual Alumni Night prior to the Galaxy - Real Salt Lake match at StubHub Center on Saturday, August 17. Twenty past Galaxy greats will turn back the clock when they face the Galaxy Academy U-18 side.
The Alumni Game is set to kick off at 5 p.m. and all participants will be available for a postgame autograph session on stage at SoccerFest before the start of the Galaxy - Real Salt Lake game, which is presented by Herbalife, at 7:30 p.m. Stadium gates will open an hour and 15 minutes earlier than usual, at 4:45 p.m., in order to allow fans to get to their seats in time for the start of the Alumni Game. Mauricio Cienfuegos, Simon Elliott, Kevin Hartman, Cobi Jones, Alexi Lalas and Peter Vagenas, who were all a part of the Galaxy's first MLS Cup winning side in 2002, highlight the Galaxy Alumni squad which also features current club President Chris Klein, Technical Director Jovan Kirovski and Assistant Coach Pat Noonan.
In their game against the Galaxy U-18's, the Galaxy Alumni will wear the club's new third kit, which was inspired by LA's uniform from their inaugural 1996 season. That inaugural Galaxy team, which won the club's first of an MLS-record eight Western Conference Championships, will be represented by Dan Calichman, who served as the club's captain that season, Cienfuegos, Jones, Ante Razov, Greg Vanney and Brad Wilson. Following the Alumni Game, which will be played over two, 20-minute halves, the alumni players will make their way to SoccerFest where they will be available to sign autographs from 5:45-7 p.m. The players will also be honored at halftime of that night's game against Real Salt Lake.
