Kotyk Recalled by San Jose

January 16, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL) - Cleveland Barons News Release

SAN JOSE - The San Jose Sharks announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Seamus Kotyk from the Cleveland Barons. Doug Wilson, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Sharks, made the announcement.

This marks Kotyk's second stint with the Sharks this season. He was previously recalled on November 22nd when starting goaltender Evgeni Nabokov was injured. Kotyk dressed in seven contests but did not appear in a game, as he was the back-up to former Barons goaltender Vesa Toskala. Kotyk was reassigned to the Barons on December 8th.

With the Barons this season, Kotyk has posted a 5-4-4 record (including one shutout) in 15 games, along with a 2.36 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage. Kotyk is in his third season with the San Jose organization.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound native of London, Ontario was signed by San Jose as a free agent on July 23, 2001 after leading the Ottawa Generals (Ontario Hockey League) to the OHL Championship and a berth in the Memorial Cup. Kotyk was awarded the "Wayne Gretzky 99 Trophy" as the OHL's Playoff Most Valuable Player.

Barons tickets can be purchased at all TicketMaster Outlets, the Gund Arena Box Office, and charge-by-phone by calling 216-241-5555. More information about the Barons is available by calling 216-420-0000 or by Crashing The Net at www.clevelandbarons.net.
