Kompon Signs PTO With Monarchs

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have signed forward Mike Kompon to a professional tryout agreement, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.

Kompon, 23, has collected nine goals and 36 points (9-27=36) in 27 games with the ECHL's Reading Royals this season. In his first professional season, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, compiled 90 points (39-51=90) and 35 penalty minutes in 77 games with the United Hockey League's Quad City Mallards during the 2004-05 season. Before turning pro, Kompon played in 153 games at the University of Miami (Ohio) and registered 138 points (49-89=138) and 104 penalty minutes over four seasons (2000-04).

The Monarchs host the Hartford Wolf Pack at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday, January 7 at 7:35 p.m. The first 5,000 fans to Saturday's game will receive a Dustin Brown Bobblehead.
