January 18, 2010 - California League (CalL) - Lancaster JetHawks
(LANCASTER, CA) -The Lancaster JetHawks are excited to announce that Koby Clemens will be immortalized with his own bobble head during next year's celebration of 15 years of Hangar heroes. Koby joins former JetHawk and current Florida Marlins All-Star Dan Uggla as the second player to be voted in by the fans. Koby's Bobble head will be given to the first 750 fans in attendance on April 28th
In last week's poll JB Shuck got off to an early lead, but it didn't take long for Jon Gaston's and Koby Clemens to close the gap. After only 4 days the poll had registered more votes than every poll this year combined, and Jon Gaston was leading the way. As the final votes came piling in through Friday evening, it was Koby who came out triumphant with nearly half of the 1,600 plus votes tallied in just over a week at jethawks.com.
Koby's 2009 season was nothing short of heroic. He finished with the most RBIs in all of Minor Leagues baseball, won the California League batting title with a.345 average and led the Class A Advanced circuit in RBIs (121), doubles (45), slugging percentage (.636) and OPS (1.055). The JetHawks catcher was named to the Topps All-Star team at the end of the year and was given The MiLBY for best hitter in Advanced A Baseball. Koby was named the team MVP, and for his accomplishments was recognized at a Houston Astros Game. And then there is the fact that he was a beast in the late innings, with a couple walk-off homeruns and multiple game winning hits, he gave JetHawks fans a reason to stay in their seats until the last pitch was thrown.
Koby's Bobble Head night will be the second in a series of 15 and will take place on Wednesday April 28th. Only the first 750 fans in attendance will receive a Koby Clemens Hangar Heroes Bobble head so make you plans to get here early.
Hangar Heroes Bobble Head ticket packages are available now at jethawks.com or can be purchased at the JetHawks front office anytime Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
The 2010 season marks the 15th anniversary of professional baseball in the Antelope Valley, and since its inaugural game in 1996, The Hangar has produced more than 90 Major Leaguers and inducted 25 members into The JetHawks Hall of Fame. Don't miss out on your chance to be a part of 15 years of Hangar Heroes in 2010.
