London Knights News Release
The London Knights are proud to announce that the team has signed Adam Boqvist to an OHL Standard Players Agreement to play in London in the 2018-2019 season. Boqvist was originally selected in the second round of the 2017 CHL Import Draft by the Knights.
"We are very excited to receive this commitment from Adam", said London Knights General Manager, Rob Simpson. "Adam will be a very dynamic and electric player in this league and we are excited to see him in a Knights jersey at Budweiser Gardens."
Boqvist, the Falun, Sweden native, was selected eighth overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. In 25 games played for Brynäs IF J20 in the SuperElit League in Sweden, the smooth skating blueliner scored 14 goals and a total of 24 points.
"When we drafted Adam last year in the CHL Import Draft, we were very optimistic that he would one day come to London", continued Simpson. "We would like to acknowledge Stan Bowman and the Chicago Blackhawks organization in agreeing to send him to London in order to continue his development towards a successful NHL career."
The highly touted defenseman was also a part of the Swedish U17 Team that won gold at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in 2016. Boqvist will wear #3 for the Knights next season.
