Knights Pick Up FB/LB Glenn Mitts

MACON, Ga. – The Macon Knights announced today that the team has been assigned Glenn Mitts. Mitts, a fullback/linebacker, enters his first season with the Knights and his third season in arenafootball2.

Mitts (6-4, 255, South Carolina State) reunites with his former head coach Mike Hold. Mitts, and Hold, spent the 2001 and 2002 seasons with the Augusta Stallions of areanfootball2. In 2003, Mitts followed Hold to the Carolina Cobras of the Arena Football League.

In Augusta, Mitts played 30 games recording 66 tackles (36 solos), six tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks, four pass breakups, six forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and one safety. He carried the ball for eight yards on two attempts and caught nine passes for 59 yards, one touchdown and one two-point conversion.

With the Cobras, Mitts rushed 14 times for 19 yards. On defense, he recorded 12 tackles (seven solos), one sack, one forced fumble and three pass breakups.

Mitts was a four-year starter at South Carolina State and earned First Team All-Conference honors as a tight end. Before attending SCSU, Mitts helped the Thomson High Bulldogs (Thomson, Ga.) to a Region 4 Title in 1992.

The Macon Knights – 2003 American Conference Champions – will kick off the season with a rematch of the 2003 ArenaCup as they play host to the Tulsa Talons on April 10th at 7:30 pm.
