Charlotte Knights News Release

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- After a two-hour and two-minute rain delay, the Charlotte Knights returned to the baseball diamond in the fifth inning down by a score of 3-1 and quickly took over the game.

Outfielder Jacob May ripped a bases-clearing, three-run triple in the bottom of the fifth inning to lead the Knights to a 6-4 win over the Louisville Bats in the finale of their three-game series from BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. Thursday's win was Charlotte's second straight. The Knights won two of three games in the series.

May led the way offensively for the Knights, finishing the night 2-for-4 with a triple, one run scored, and three RBIs. DH Cody Asche chipped in with two hits and two RBIs.

Charlotte LHP Brian Clark (2-1, 2.95) allowed one run over 2.1 innings pitched to earn the win. Clark came on to pitch in relief of Charlotte RHP Carson Fulmer, who started Thursday's game and gave up three runs on six hits over four innings pitched. Fulmer did not return after the rain delay. RHP Zack Burdi recorded the final five outs of the game to earn his sixth save of the season. Burdi struck-out three batters.

The Knights will now open a three-game series against the Indianapolis Indians (Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates) on Friday at 7:05 p.m. from BB&T Ballpark. Pre-game radio coverage will begin at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN Charlotte (730 AM) and CharlotteKnights.com. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad and long-time radio broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action.
