Corvallis Knights News Release

The newest Knights are incoming University of Portland shortstop Chad Stevens of Gig Harbor, Wash., High School; junior first baseman-pitcher Cole Johnson of Pacific Lutheran, and catcher Jacob Bockelie, also of PLU.

Stevens is a native of Fox Island, Wash. He helped lead the Tides to a third-place finish at the 2016 Washington 4A state tournament. He was a second-team Narrows League 4A all-star in 2016, his junior year. He played for the Narrows Baseball Club for five years, and was on the Mariners Scout Team. He will be the fifth player with UP connections on the 2017 team, joining current Pilots Cameron Richman, Matt Kelly, Henry Cheney and Jordan Horak.

A lefty from Buckley, Wash., Johnson was 5-4, 4.76 in 16 games, with 40 strikeouts in 87 innings. As a position player, he hit .304 with three homers and 38 RBIs and was honorable-mention all-Northwest Conference.

He formerly played at Washington State. He was a two-time MVP and three-time all-leaguer at White River High before going to WSU.

Bockelie signed a 10-day contract. He is a redshirt sophomore from Shorewood High in Shoreline, Wash., who did not play in 2016 but hit .321 in 21 games in 2015, with five RBIs. He was second-team all-WESCO South his junior and senior years at Shorewood.
