Knighthawks Re-Sign Bomberry for Two More Years

The Rochester Knighthawks announced today that they have re-signed Adam Bomberry to a two-year deal. Bomberry was the 16th overall selection in the 2015 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft, following an outstanding showing at the FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championship.

"He came in full of confidence and did exactly what we expected of him," said Knighthawks head coach Mike Hasen. "It's great he's going to be here and be able to grow with us the next couple of years."

In 2016, Bomberry played in eight games, which was the second most games of any Rochester rookie. In his inaugural pro campaign, he posted one goal, two assists, 33 loose balls and 33 faceoff wins. Playing for the Knighthawks was everything he hoped for when he joined the team back in September.

"I love playing in Rochester. It's a great city and our fan base is what makes everything so special," he said. "They're just as passionate about the game as we are. I enjoy every moment of being able to call myself a Knighthawk."

Bomberry said his most memorable moment was on January 9th, when he made his pro debut on opening night.

"That's a moment I will always treasure," he said. "It made it even more special getting to run out on the floor in front of my family, friends and our fans."

The 22-year-old will add that memory to his long list of accomplishments. The Akwesasne product experienced two of the greatest years of his lacrosse career at Onondaga Community College, where he won two National Championships, two Regional Championships, and two Conference titles. In 2015, he picked up some individual awards as he was named All-Conference by the Mid-State Athletic Conference, First Team All-Region and First-Team All-American by the NJCAA.

Bomberry has won at every level, winning back-to-back Minto Cups with the Six Nations Arrows (2014-15) and a Founders Cup with Akwesasne (2015). Bomberry added some hardware during two stints with the Iroquois Nationals as well. In 2014, he won a bronze medal at the FIL World Field Lacrosse Championship. In 2015, he took home the silver medal at the FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championship.

Having unprecedented success at such a young age was a great benefit to him once he made the jump to the pros during the 2016 season. Bomberry, who was often described as being mature beyond his years, said he can't wait to get back to work with the Knighthawks.

"I enjoyed the atmosphere the most," he said. "I also enjoyed the times that were spent with the boys. They're all great guys and always fun to be around."
