Knighthawks Present $7,000 Check to UAR
March 30, 2015 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Rochester Knighthawks News Release
The Rochester Knighthawks scored two wins on February 28th. Not only did the Knighthawks defeat the Calgary Roughnecks 12-11, but they also netted $7,000 in their annual jersey auction for Urology Associates of Rochester.
"Thank you to the fans for five great years of jersey auctions," said UAR Practice Administrator Eileen Stone. "We raised $7,000 (this year) for a grand total of just under $50,000. Thank you again and we'll see you next year."
The Knighthawks wore special blue jerseys to raise awareness for prostate cancer. The net proceeds from the online auction will benefit Zero - The Project to End Prostate Cancer and The Lipson Cancer Center at Rochester General. Fans with the winning bids received their game-worn, individually signed jersey directly off the players' backs.
"The generosity of our fans made the night a great success," said Knighthawks President Lewis Staats. "We are pleased that the monies raised are going to support one of our longtime community partners, the Urology Associates of Rochester."
Staats and Knighthawks VP of Sales John Catalano presented a $7,000 check to UAR Saturday during the game against the Edmonton Rush.
