The Rochester Knighthawks will wear special fan-themed jerseys on Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday, April 30th. When Rochester hosts the Saskatchewan Rush, the Knighthawks will don jerseys that include the names of all of their season ticket account holders.

In all, over 1,000 names will adorn the teal and purple jersey, which is a first for a professional sports team in North America. Only the Hannover Scorpions, who play professional ice hockey in the German Oberliga, have honored their fans in this fashion.

Knighthawks Owner and General Manager Curt Styres was the person who decided to have a jersey produced in honor of the fans. As a special touch, he added the words "thank you, fans" below the Knighthawks logo on the front of the jersey.

"The more people you include in your day-to-day, the more room there is for success. We always do our best to include everybody," said Styres. "I think this is bound to grow because everybody wants the jersey. When fans finally see the jerseys and see the names on it, they're going to want to get their names on it."

The idea for the jerseys was spawned from a T-shirt, which was designed by Knighthawks account executive Charlie Ragusa during the 2014 season.

"We had a nice T-shirt made up with a wolf on it and all the players picked out one (inspirational) word. The idea was to put that one word into the wolf," said Styres. "I said, 'Let's try that with our jerseys.'"

Season ticket holders will be chosen at random to win the commemorative Fan Appreciation Night jerseys. Each winner will receive their jersey right off the player's back following the game.

Styres has earned a reputation for honoring the Knighthawks faithful, as in the past he has chartered buses to playoff games, raffled off a championship ring, and allowed fans to carry the Champion's Cup during the 2014 three-peat championship banner raising ceremony. On Saturday, he will take it one step further with the fan jersey.

"Passion. Family. Pride. These are values that Curt demonstrates through his actions. He also makes the fans want to embrace those virtues by cementing a bond with the team and the sport," said Knighthawks season ticket holder Tim Knab. "These fan-focused jerseys are just the latest example of how Curt includes the fans in the Knighthawks family."

As part of Fan Appreciation Night, the Knighthawks will honor their fans who have passed away during the last year. The game will be dedicated to the memory of Roni Lee Styres, Melvin Edward Styres, Jolene Alisha (Styres) Doxtador, Arnold Joseph General, Brian "Zimm" Zimmer, Raymond and Sharon Shortino, Harvey and Sharon Stoler, and Sue Ann Soudan.

Fan Appreciation Night will also include Kids Day and the annual Hall of Fame Ceremony. The Kids Day event, presented by Zweigle's, will feature inflatables, laser tag, a magician, face painters and air brush tattoos. Doors will open at 4:00 p.m. Admission to the pregame event and the game are free for kids 12 and under. Fans must have a ticket to enter.

Prior to faceoff, the Knighthawks will hold their Eighth Annual Hall of Fame Ceremony. Pat McCready and Chris Schiller will become the 14th and 15th members of the esteemed club, and the seventh and eighth defensemen to receive the honor. During their playing days, the duo combined to play 18 seasons and contributed to the franchise's first three championships. As part of the Hall of Fame festivities, the Knighthawks will also welcome back over a dozen former players.

Kids Day and the Hall of Fame Ceremony will precede the 7:30 p.m. showdown between the Rush and the Knighthawks. For tickets, fans can call the Knighthawks Office at (585) 454-4295.
