Knighthawks Fall to Rush

Rochester Knighthawks News Release

(January 21, 2017)... The Rochester Knighthawks dropped their first road game of the season, falling 16-8 to the Saskatchewan Rush at the SaskTel Centre. With the result tonight, both teams are now 1-2.

The offense was led by four-point efforts from Joe Resetarits (1+3) and rookie Josh Currier (1+3). Fellow rookies Dan Lomas, who scored his first professional hat trick, and Kyle Jackson (0+3) each chipped in three points.

"It felt good pending the circumstances," said Lomas. "The goals coming so late in the game was frustrating because you want to turn it on early to give your team a chance to win."

In goal, Matt Vinc turned aside 37 shots to move within eight stops of becoming only the fifth player in National Lacrosse League history to reach 6,000 saves. Team captain Sid Smith did reach a milestone by playing in his 111th game, tying him for eight with Knighthawks Hall of Famer Jeremy Hollenbeck for eighth on the team's all-time list.

Next week, the Knighthawks will travel to the Air Canada Centre to play the rival Toronto Rock for the second time this season. The game on Saturday, Jan. 28 is a 7:00 p.m. start.
