Kitchener Rangers and Windsor Spitfires Announce Trade

The Kitchener Rangers announced today they have traded winger Jeremy Bracco to the Windsor Spitfires. In exchange, the Rangers will receive winger Cole Carter, defenceman Andrew Burns, Windsor's 2nd round pick in 2023, a 2nd round pick in 2024, and a conditional 2nd round pick in 2025.
Along with Bracco, the Spitfires will also receive an 8th round pick (KIT) in 2017, and a 13th round pick (KIT) in 2018.
Since joining the Rangers near the beginning of the 2015-16 season, Bracco has registered 115 points (38G, 77A) in 76 career regular season games.
He was named the Charles Chalkin Memorial Award winner for Best Performer in the Playoffs last season, tallying 14 points in nine post-season contests - including ten points in five games in the Rangers' opening round win versus the Windsor Spitfires.
He began the 2016-17 season on a 26-game point streak, where he registered 17 goals and 34 assists for 51 points and a plus-15 rating. The only game he was held off the scoresheet was his final game in a Rangers uniform before leaving to participate in the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship, where he won a gold medal with Team USA.
Originally drafted by the Rangers in the 5th round, 84th overall in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection, he was a 2nd round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs (61st overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
"Jeremy is obviously one of the most skilled players in this league, and he'll no doubt make an immediate impact on the Spitfires in their quest for a Memorial Cup this season," said Rangers general manager Murray Hiebert.
"His offensive prowess and popularity among his teammates and the fans will make him missed here in Kitchener. We wish him the best as he continues his Ontario Hockey League career in Windsor."
Carter was selected by the Windsor Spitfires in the 4th round, 72nd overall in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection. He dressed for a full 68-game regular season in his rookie campaign, tallying six goals and 34 points and was a plus-14.
This season, his second in the OHL, Carter has registered 19 points (10G, 9A) in 28 games played.
"We were impressed with Cole's performance last year in our playoff series against the Spitfires," said Hiebert. "Cole is a player we kept our eye on for quite some time. Warren [Rychel] wasn't keen on giving him up, but he knew parting ways with a player of Cole's caliber was pertinent in making this deal happen."
Burns, a 3rd round pick, selected 47th overall in 2013, has registered two goals and 34 points in 182 regular season and playoff games combined with the Spitfires.
"Andrew is a player with valuable OHL experience," added Hiebert. "With the loss of two of our top five defencemen this season it was necessary for us to add depth and stability to our back end, and the acquisition of Andrew allows us to do just that.
"We would like to welcome Cole and Andrew to our Rangers family, and look forward to their on and off-ice contributions here in Kitchener."
The Rangers and Spitfires meet three more times this season; twice at the Aud and once at the WFCU Centre. The next meeting will take place this Thursday, January 12th at 7:05pm in Windsor, televised nationally on Rogers Sportsnet.
