Kings Sign Deslauriers to Entry-Level Contract

MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have agreed to terms on a three-year entry-level contract with defenseman Nicolas Deslauriers, the club's third-round selection (84th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Deslauriers, 20, was selected by the Kings in the third round (84th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He recently completed his fourth season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Gatineau Olympiques, and he led all QMJHL defensemen in 2011 playoff scoring with 20 points (5-1520) in 24 post-season games. Deslauriers helped Gatineau advance to the QMJHL's championship series (the President's Cup Final) before the Olympiques lost to the Saint John Sea Dogs in six games.

In 48 regular season games during the 2010-11 season, Deslauriers racked up 43 points (13-3043) and 53 penalty minutes. He led all defensemen on his team in goals (13), assists (30), points (43), power-play goals (6), and plus/minus rating (plus-22).

A 6-1, 200-pound native of LaSalle, Quebec, Deslauriers joined the Olympiques after three seasons with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (QMJHL). In 2009-10, he tied for 12th among QMJHL defensemen with 45 points (9-3645) while finishing with a plus-22 rating in 65 regular season games. In 2008-09, Deslauriers ranked second among club defensemen in goals (11), points (30) and assists (19) while appearing in 68 regular season games.
