Kingery's Two Homer's Not Enough, Pigs Fall

The IronPigs (49-29) surrendered 20 hits, tying a franchise record, and fell14-5 to the Pawtucket Red Sox (37-38) Tuesday night at Coca-Cola Park before 7,822 fans.

Pawtucket had four multi-run innings, scoring a pair in the second, a five-run fifth, three-run sixth and a four-run eighth inning.

Bryce Brentz hit two home runs, his first a two-run home run in the fifth inning, giving the Paw Sox a 4-1 lead at the time. Heiker Meneses then followed later in the inning with a three-run home run to cap of the five-run frame.

Brentz added his second home run in the top of the eighth inning, a two-run shot to give the Paw Sox 12-4 lead. The Paw Sox then capped off their scoring with a two-run double by Dan Butler, plating Allen Craig and Matt Dominguez to give the Paw Sox a 12-4 lead.

The Pigs then plated a run in the bottom half of the ninth as Pedro Florimon sent a RBI double to right-center field, scoring Andrew Pullin to make the final score 12-5.

Four of the Pigs five runs came by the long ball, as Scott Kingery hit two home runs in just his second career Triple-A game, and Dylan Cozens launched his league-leading 18th homer of the season.

Kingery led off the Pigs bottom half of the first and provided instant offense, as the second baseman launched a 361 foot home run to put the Pigs on the board first.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, he struck again, this time with Pullin on base, he sent a two-run shot again to left field to narrow the deficit at the time to 7-3.

Cozens then hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning, as the Pigs trailed 10-4 after six.

The four-game series continues with game three against the Pawtucket Red Sox Wednesday night. The Pigs will send right.
