Richmond Kickers News Release

RICHMOND, VA - (Thursday) - The Richmond Kickers (4-3-3) return to City Stadium this Saturday, May 28 to host FC Montreal (0-8-0). The pre-game party starts at 5:30 p.m. with live music by the Cary Street Ramblers, RVA Food Trucks and over a dozen craft beers and ciders on tap. Tickets are on sale now at RichmondKickers.com.

The Kickers conclude a three game home stand on Saturday following a midweek 4-0 win over USASA side Aromas Café FC in the U.S. Open Cup Second Round last Wednesday and a scoreless draw against league-leading Louisville City FC three days later. On loan from the Kickers' Major League Soccer affiliate, D.C. United, goalkeeper Charlie Horton posted his second consecutive shutout to extend the club's unbeaten streak at City Stadium to six games.

FC Montreal carry an eight-game slide into City Stadium this weekend after narrowly missing the chance to earn their first point last week against New York Red Bulls II at Claude-Robillard Sports Complex. After nearly taking a 4th minute lead and holding Red Bulls II scoreless for 90 minutes, Montreal conceded a last-gasp goal to drop their eighth consecutive match to start the 2016 campaign.

The Kickers and FC Montreal last met in June 2015 when they battled to a scoreless tie at City Stadium. Previously, the two clubs met in Montreal for the first time in history when the Kickers edged the home side 1-0. The Kickers' all-time leading scorer Matthew Delicate notched his 200th point in a Kickers uniform with the lone goal and a staunch defense weathered 13 shots to preserve the shutout.

The Kickers and FC Montreal close out the two game, home and away series at Complexe Sportif Claude-Robillard on Saturday, August 6.
