 Frederick Keys

Keys Regular Season Closes

September 5, 2011 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Frederick Keys News Release

The Keys will head into the postseason after being swept away in Wilmington as Frederick's offense was held down again in a 3-0 defeat on Labor Day. Even though the Keys dropped eight of its last ten games, Frederick still finishes the 2011 season with its best ever record at 80-59.

Wilmington held the Keys to just four hits in the ballgame. Other than the Keys ten-run surge on Friday in Kinston, the Keys scored only six runs in six losses.

The Keys fell behind in the second inning. After a one-out walk to 3B Adrian Morales, DH Joey Lewis hit a home run to left field, his seventh of the year. Wilmington would scratch across another score on an RBI-single by 2B Whit Merrifield.

That would be all the Blue Rocks would need. The Keys threatened in the seventh inning with runners on the corners and no outs but they failed to score. The lone multi-hit getter for was 1B Mike Flacco.

The Playoffs are coming to Frederick on Wednesday night. The Keys will send LHP Jake Pettit to the hill for the Game One start. Coverage will begin 30-minutes prior to first pitch on 1450-AM The Source and wthu.org.

Playoff tickets are on-sale for the Northern Division Championship Series which starts at Harry Grove Stadium Wednesday, September 7th at 7:00 p.m. Fireworks will follow the September 8th playoff game at Harry Grove Stadium!

Purchase tickets by phoning the Keys Box Office at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or purchase online at frederickkeys.com.
