Frederick Keys News Release

WINSTON-SALEM, NC -Cody Sedlock and Christian Turnipseed limited the Winston-Salem Dash to four hits, as the Frederick Keys earned a 4-2 victory on Tuesday night at BB&T Ballpark. With the victory, the orange and black force a rubber game on Wednesday night.

Making his third start of the year, Sedlock (2-0) delivered six innings and allowed only two runs (one earned). He walked one and struck out four in posting his second quality outing with the Keys. Turnipseed pitched the final three innings to record his first save. During that time he did not allow a hit to go with four punch outs.

Trailing 2-1 after four innings, the Keys leveled the game in the fifth. Hitting with a 3-0 count, Austin Hays got the green light and ripped a solo homer over the leftfield wall off Brannon Easterling. One inning later, the visitors pushed the go-ahead run across. Stuart Levy opened the inning with a double and moved to third on a sac-bunt by Ricardo Andujar. Two batters later, Hays hit into a fielder's choice to bring Levy in.

The Keys closed out their scoring in the eighth. With men at first and second, Stevie Wilkerson ripped the second pitch from Ryan Riga down the third base line to make it 4-2. Wilkerson, Hays and Ryan Mountcastle all enjoyed strong nights at the plate. The trio went a combined 7-for-14 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Easterling (1-1) took the loss, allowing two runs on nine hits in five innings. Winston-Salem scored single markers in the second on a double by Johan Cruz and a two-bagger by Toby Thomas in the fourth.

The Keys and Dash conclude their series on Wednesday night at BB&T Ballpark. Left-hander Brian Gonzalez (0-2, 7.56) starts for Frederick against Winston-Salem righty Max Beatty (0-1, 3.27). First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and the broadcast can be heard on 1450 AM The Source, frederickkeys.com and the TuneIn Radio App.

The team returns to Nymeo Field on Thursday, April 20 when the Salem Red Sox come to town. For tickets, fans can call the box office at 301-815-9939 or visit frederickkeys.com.
