Kernels Snap Streak with 10-3 Win over River Bandits

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels snapped their three-game losing streak in a big way with a 10-3 win over the Quad Cities River Bandits in front of 1,746 fans at Perfect Game Field on Tuesday night. The Kernels scored seven runs in the first inning and chased Bandit starter Jorge Rondon (2-1) as he faced all nine Kernels and retired only two.
Kernels starter Patrick Corbin won his league-best seventh game, allowing three runs on six hits, walked two and struck out five over six inning. Jeremy Berg and Johnny Hellweg combined to allow just one hit over the final three innings to preserve the win.
Mike Trout delivered the big blow in the first with a three run triple to left-center on his second at-bat of the inning. Trout finished 2-4 with a walk and run scored as Jean Segura went 3-4 with two runs scored and two stolen bases. Casey Haerther went 1-4 and had 4 RBI as Eric Oliver, Kevin Ramos and Jon Karcich each chipped in an RBI. Jason Stidham led Quad Cities, going 3-4 with an RBI.
The Kernels and River Bandits continue their three game series on Wednesday night at 6:35 pm. It's a Mix 96.5 FM/WMT AM 600 Winning Wednesday where a lucky Kernels fans could walk away with $10,000 if the Kernels perform a certain feat in the selected inning. The Kernels are also hosting their Ribs N Beer Fest on the Randy Kuehl Honfidence Pavilion. Cost is $25 and includes all you can eat ribs, plus beer, soda or water, all the sides and 10 coupons to sample beer, wine and spirits from Iowa distilleries.
