Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - Cedar Rapids Kernels pitchers Cody Stashak and Tom Hackimer combined on a one-hit shutout to beat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 1-0 on Thursday night. Jordan Yamamoto allowed one run in seven innings, but was charged with the loss in the road trip finale for the Rattlers.

The Kernels (44-40 overall, 8-7 second half) took a 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the second inning. Jaylin Davis doubled with one out in the bottom of the second. JJ Fernandez reached on an infield single to put runners on the corners. Rainis Silva got Davis home when he hit a high chopper off the plate to third. The only play was first base and Silva was out there as Davis scored.

Yamamoto scattered seven hits, didn't walk a batter, and struck out seven over seven innings in the game.

Wisconsin (41-44, 7-8) didn't get their first base runner of the game against Stashak until Juan Ortiz started the top of the sixth inning with a single. Ortiz was picked off moments later. The hit by Ortiz was the only one for Wisconsin on Thursday night.

The Rattlers had three other base runners in the game against Stashak - all were walks and none made it past first.

Stashak went eight scoreless innings and struck out eight to earn his fifth win of the season. Hackimer pitched a perfect ninth inning to pick up the save.

The Timber Rattlers wrapped up their seven-game road trip with a 3-4 record. The Rattlers won two of three at Burlington, but lost three of four at Cedar Rapids. All four losses on the road trip were by one run.
