Kelowna extends streak

December 1, 2012 - Western Hockey League (WHL) - Kelowna Rockets News Release

The Kelowna Rockets extended its home winning streak to 10 games on Friday night at Prospera Place, scoring a 3-2 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors in a fast-paced and entertaining game in Kelowna.

Henrik Nyberg used a burst of speed to get in alone on Moose Jaw netminder Daniel Wapple and buried the game winner late in the third period to give the Rockets the win.

Damon Severson and Ryan Olsen also scored for the Rockets, who outshot the Warriors 34-20 in the game.

Wapple was the game's first star, keeping Kelowna at bay for most of the night. Shots in the first period were 17-2 for Kelowna, but the score was only 1-0 Rockets.

The Rockets led 2-0 in the second period but allowed the Warriors back into the game. Sam Firoetti and Braiden Doucette scored to tie the game, setting the stage for Nyberg's winner.

The Rockets are back in action Saturday night as they travel to Seattle for a game against the Thunderbirds Saturday.

Kelowna returns to Prospera Place next week for its final two homes games before Christmas, hosting Swift Current on Wednesday and Prince George on Friday.

Tickets for those games are available at www.selectyourtickets.com or by calling 250-762-5050.
