Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release

MUSKEGON, MI- Anthony Del Gaizo scored twice, providing all the offense goaltender Keegan Karki would need in a 2-1 victory over the Madison Capitols at LC Walker Arena Saturday.

Karki stopped 33 Madison shots, improving to 14-10-0 on the season.

Del Gaizo started the scoring for the Jacks in the second period, gunning a wrist shot from the right circle through the five-hole of an unsuspecting Dryden McKay. McKay followed his 55-save performance in Friday night's game with 25 more saves on Saturday.

The Jacks took a 1-0 lead into the third period, and Del Gaizo would add to it when he accepted a pass from Egor Afanasyev in the high slot. Del Gaizo was left open, and picked his spot, the top-left corner of the net past McKay's blocker.

Ludwig Stenlund would tally a power-play goal for Madison, but despite 19 third-period shots, the Capitols' comeback was halted by Karki and the Jacks.

Muskegon was outshot for just the 12th time all year (fewest in the USHL), but that hasn't bothered the Jacks: they improved to 7-5-0 when outshot.

Muskegon, as of publication, moves into second place in the Eastern Conference with many games still underway.

The Jacks take the ice this Wednesday, on Valentine's day, for a 7:15pm matchup with the Central Illinois Flying Aces.

Muskegon goals: A. Del Gaizo (29,30)

Muskegon assists: Marc Del Gaizo (18), Jachym Kondelik (9), Afanasyev (6), Will Schlagenhauf (4)
