Kailer Yamamoto Named to All-American Prospects Game
August 31, 2016 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release
Spokane Chiefs forward Kailer Yamamoto has been selected to the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on September 22. The fifth annual event will showcase 42 of the top American-born prospects eligible for next summer's 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
Yamamoto, set to begin his third season with the Chiefs on September 24 at Tri-City, is one of three WHL players invited to participate. He will play for either Mark Howe or John LeClair as both former NHL standouts will serve as head coaches for the game, as announced by USA Hockey earlier this month.
Notable previous participants in the game include NHL standouts Jack Eichel (Buffalo Sabres), Noah Hanifin (Carolina Hurricanes), Dylan Larkin (Detroit Red Wings) and Seth Jones (Columbus Blue Jackets). In the first four years of the event, 74 participants went on to be drafted by an NHL franchise, including 15 first-round selections. Anaheim Ducks prospect (2016 NHL Entry Draft; 24th overall) Max Jones scored twice to lead Team Howe to a 6-4 win in last year's game.
Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. More information is available at allamericanprospectsgame.com.
NOTES: Yamamoto was part of Team USA's bronze medal-winning team at the 2016 IIHF U-18 Championship in Grand Forks, Michigan... He also participated in Team USA's National Junior Evaluation Camp over the summer, hoping to impress for a spot on American squad for the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship... Yamamoto is expected to be available for the Chiefs' regular season opener on Sept. 24.
