K-Wings add two to roster

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL, announce they have agreed to terms with defenseman Jon Landry and forward Andrew Fournier for the upcoming 2009-10 season; per team policy, the terms of the contracts will be undisclosed.

A four-year pro, Landry joins the K-Wings after spending the past three seasons in the Central Hockey League with the Arizona Sundogs. During the 2007-08 season, Landry helped the ‘Dogs capture their first Ray Miron President's Cup, awarded to the playoff champion of the CHL.

"He (Landry) is a strong skater that moves the puck extremely well," said Wade Welsh, vice president/general manager. "Jon has contributed offensively at the blue line and brings championship experience to our locker room."

Before turning pro, Landry was a four-year standout at Bowdoin College (ME). With 121 points in his collegiate career, Landry is 16th on Bowdoin's all-time scoring list and was named a First Team All-NESCAC selection and a First Team All American during his senior season.

Joining Landry in Kalamazoo will be forward Andrew Fournier. A second-year pro, Fournier split last season in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades and the Dayton Bombers racking up 26 points (8 goals, 18 assists) in 44 games.

The native of Amherstview, Ontario, Fournier played five seasons of Junior "A" hockey in the Ontario Hockey League with the Plymouth Whalers. Fournier was team captain in his final season with the Whalers and also helped the Whalers secure the OHL's J. Ross Robertson Cup, awarded to the OHL playoff champion, during the 2006-07 season.

"After proving he could score in juniors. Andrew finished his first pro season strong averaging a point-a-night with Dayton," said Welsh. "We (K-Wings) feel Andrew can create scoring changes not only for himself, but for his teammates and we are adding a player that has shown leadership ability and has won a championship."

After finishing his junior career, Fournier completed 2007-08 season in the American Hockey League, playing six games with the Norfolk Admirals.

The additions of Landry and Fournier give the K-Wings seven players signed for the upcoming 2009-10 season, which will commence on the road Thursday, October 15th against the Reading Royals. Also signed for next season are forwards Rick Cleaver, Trent Daavettila, Bryan Jurynec and Anton Kharin, as well as defenseman Devin Featherstone. .

Kalamazoo will open up the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, October 24th versus Reading with a 7:30 p.m. face-off at Wings Stadium.
