BILOXI, Miss. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (18-19, 48-59) fell to the Biloxi Shuckers (16-21, 52-54) by a 3-2 score in the second game of the five-game series at MGM Park on Monday night.
Biloxi right-handed starter Jon Perrin (4-2) earned the win, working six and a third innings where he allowed a pair of runs on eight hit with no walks and two strikeouts. Jacksonville right-handed starter Trevor Richards (3-3) took the loss, working six innings where he allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits with no walks and five strikeouts, and he set down the last 14 Shuckers batters he faced in order. Biloxi right-handed reliever Matt Ramsey earned his Southern League-best 21st save of the season with a perfect night.
Biloxi struck first in the game, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. The Shuckers took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a sacrifice fly by Troy Stokes, Jr. Jacksonville would respond in the top of the third, when an Austin Dean RBI single cut Biloxi's lead to 3-1. His next at-bat, Dean made it a one-run game in the fifth inning with another RBI single to make it a 3-2 game, which would be the final score.
Jacksonville hit into three double plays in the game, that took away scoring opportunities in the second, sixth, and seventh innings.
The Jumbo Shrimp and Shuckers will continue their series with the third game of the five-game series on Tuesday night at MGM Park at 7:35 p.m. ET.
