Sioux Falls Stampede News Release

The Sioux Falls Stampede announced today that John Rosso, Director of Scouting and Player Development, has resigned from his position with the club and accepted an assistant coaching job with Mercyhurst College.

"We are thrilled for John," said Stampede head coach Kevin Hartzell. "John is an excellent coach and has a great eye for talent. He will certainly be missed, but I know this was an opportunity he couldn't pass up and we wish him nothing but the best in the future."

Rosso joined the Stampede in 2008 and helped guide the club to back-to-back playoff appearances. Over 30 players secured Division I scholarships during Rosso's time with the Herd and futures pick Christian Isackson was selected in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Mercyhurst is a Division I program in Erie, PA and are members of the Atlantic Hockey Conference. The Lakers went 15-20-3 last season and were 22-15-3 in 2008-09. They will open the 2010-11 season at Michigan on October 2nd.

Former Stampede netminder Max Strang is currently on the Lakers roster. Matt Lundin was a goalie at Mercyhurst from 2007 to 2009 and returning forward Ryan Misiak has committed to the Lakers for the 2011-12 season.

The Stampede are currently preparing for the upcoming 2010-11 season. Players report to camp in late August and the regular season will begin the first weekend of October. The Stampede will be releasing their regular season schedule and training camp roster in the coming days.
