John Leonard Named to USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game Dec 21st 2016, 18:14, by jhabeck

The United States Hockey League and NHL Central Scouting announced that Gamblers forward John Leonard has been added to the 2017 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game that will take place on Jan. 10 in Sioux Falls, SD at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.

Leonard is a second year NHL Draft eligible forward playing in his second USHL season. The Amherst, MA native has 12 points and eight goals this season, both career highs. Leonard played in the 2016 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game and recorded four shots in Team East's 6-2 victory. The University of Massachusetts commit is currently tied for the second most goals on Green Bay's roster.

With the addition of Leonard, the Gamblers now have five players named to the game including forwards Joshua Dunne and Nolan Moyle, defenseman Alexis Binner, and goaltender Maksim Zhukov.

Leonard will replace Dubuque Fighting Saints forward Santeri Virtanen, who will not be able to compete due to injury.

2017 marks the fifth time the USHL will be hosting the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, and it follows the fourth consecutive year that 30 or more players from the USHL were selected at the NHL Draft. The 2017 NHL Draft will be held June 23-24 in Chicago, IL at the United Center, home of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks. Fans can purchase tickets to the game HERE, and any media credential requests should be sent HERE.
