JetHawks Send Sixers to Fifth Consecutive Defeat

Lancaster, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino were dropped by the Lancaster JetHawks 11-4 on Thursday night and have now matched a season-worst five game losing skid. The Sixers are now 4-8 versus the JetHawks on the season as Lancaster moved into sole possession of first place in the California League's Southern Division.
The JetHawks took a 2-0 lead in the first against Inland Empire (27-33) starter Jesus Castillo (2-2) as league batting leader Brendan Rodgers doubled and scored on Sam Hilliard 's triple. Brian Mundell then knocked Hilliard home on a ground out. The Jet Hawks blew it open in the third inning taking advantage of Sixers' SS Connor Justus ' error to open the frame. The inning continued as the JetHawks (32-28) got a RBI single from Mundell, sac fly from Yonathan Daza, RBI double from Roerto Ramos and capped by Wes Rogers ' third homer of the year running the tally to five unearned runs in the inning and a 7-0 lead. Mylz Jones tagged a solo shot to open the fourth and Mundell added another RBI single after Justus' second error of the night led to another unearned run and a 9-0 lead. Castillo went four innings allowing 11 hits and nine runs of which only three runs were earned.
The Sixers got a two-run homer from Justus, his fourth of the season. He also doubled in the contest. Brennon Lund added his second of the season for Inland Empire. The JetHawks had 17 hits, three apiece from Hilliard and Ramos. Craig Schlitter allowed one earned run over 6.2 innings and improved to 8-1 for the JetHawks.
