Jeter Forces ADT Defensive Player of the Week

HIDALGO, TX: August 9, 2005 - arenafootball2 announced their weekly awards for post season action and Rio Grande Valley Dorados lineman Curtis Jeter earned ADT Defensive Player of the Week honors for the First Round.

Jeter, the all-time af2 leader in forced fumbles with 17, registered two fumbles and recovered one in the Dorados 56-38 win over Quad City Sunday night in their first ever playoff game. The 6'0 295-pound Montgomery, Alabama native also gathered three tackles and a pair of sacks in the game. During the regular season, Jeter contributed 9.5 tackles, 4 sacks and co-led the af2 with 6 forced fumbles.

The honor is the first received by Jeter in his career and is the third time this season a Dorados member has received the ADT Defensive Player of the Week honor. Jeter's honor marks the sixth time a Dorados member has been recognized this season for an af2 weekly award. Defensive specialist Norman Mason earned ADT Defensive Player of the Week honors for Week 8 and 9, Chris Robinson claimed the US Army Ironman award in Week 4, Dwight Counter earned the Offensive Player of the Week award in Week 11 and Marquis Floyd garnered US Army Ironman of the Week accolades in Week 12. The six awards double the overall amount of weekly awards the Dorados earned last season. Karleton Thomas received ADT Defensive Player of the Game in Week 1 and Eddie Motten received the same honor for Week 14 and 18 of last season. The Dorados head to Tulsa this week for their second round playoff matchup against the Tulsa Talons Saturday night. If the Dorados win, they will advance to play the winner of the contest between Amarillo and Memphis.
