Seattle Reign FC News Release
SEATTLE - The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) today announced
Seattle Reign FC midfielder Jessica Fishlock has been named to the NWSL Team of
the Month. This is the first season the Team of the Month honor has been
introduced.
Reign FC went 1-1-1 during the month of April, with Fishlock
starting and playing the full 90 minutes in all three matches. The co-captain
notched one goal and one assist, with both coming in the 5-1 victory over the
Houston Dash.
Fishlock's goal came in the 18th minute of the
match, after a clearance deflected off Beverly Yanez. Christine Nairn was able
to control the ball, and then laid the ball off for Fishlock who shot through
traffic into the far corner of the net for her first goal of 2017.
Fishlock helped Reign FC double the score less than ten
minutes later, providing the assist on Megan Rapinoe's impressive Goal of the
Week nominee.
The NWSL Team of the Month is selected by the NWSL Media
Association, a collection of media members that cover the league on a
consistent basis. For more information on the NWSL Media Association, follow
